Maybe it's just me, but it's seemed Super Mega had it's really bright period, and it seems to be dying down. The forums aren't as alive as before, Johnny is getting very behind on everything, and the comics seem to of lost their unique touch.

Maybe it's just going through a lousy period, which I hope it is, but it seems to be going down in the dumps.

I'm thinking of getting rid of most of the Ally comics and closing down Super Mega for a while

Here's the rough draft of the rest of the series... I wrote this up in like 15 minutes a week or two ago, and I usually change a bunch of things when I actually make the comics. The punchlines don't work as well when you are reading straight through it, since you just go right from the punchline to the next comic a centimeter below... kinda like comics 3-5 weren't as good when they were one comic, but anyways:

8

(ALLY)SO SAMUEL, THIS IS TEN POUND PLANET
(SAMUEL)(OR IS IT SPACE MONSTER, IN DISGUISE?)
(ALLY)TEN POUND PLANET, THIS IS SAMUEL
(SAMUEL)(OR IS IT SPACE MONSTER, IN DISGUISE?)
(ALLY)OKAY GUYS, WE HAVE TO FIND A GOOD COMET TO RIDE HOME
(A COMET)OH HEY RIDE ME
(ALLY)ARE YOU A GOOD COMET
(A COMET)NO :D

9

(ALLY)WHOO WHOO HERE WE GO
(ALLY)GOING THROUGH SPACE LOOKIN' FOR A GOOD COMET
(space monster shows up)(SPACE MONSTER) AHA, I FOUND YOU!
(SAMUEL)AHA, I KNEW YOU WERE SPACE MONSTER THE WHOLE TIME (pointing at ten pound planet)
(SAMUEL)GOOD THING MY HOOVES SHOOT BULLETS
(space monster's face)
(SAMUEL)LIKE A GUN
(space monster's face is shocked and scared)

10

(bang bang bang bang bang)
(space monster is running)
(ALLY)WHOA, THANKS FOR GETTING RID OF SPACE MONSTER, SAMUEL
(SAMUEL)NO PROBLEMS
(TEN POUND PLANET)I'M NOT SPACE MONSTER, YOU SAID I WAS SPACE MONSTER
(samuel with suspicious look)
(ALLY)IF YOU'RE NOT SPACE MONSTER, THEN...
(ALLY)IT'S ME!
(ALLY)NOO D:

11

(SAMUEL)IF ALLY'S SPACE MONSTER THEN THAT MEANS...
(SAMUEL)I'M TEN POUND PLANET?
(TEN POUND PLANET)THEN WHO AM I
(SAMUEL)A SPY!
(ALLY)HOW COULD YOU

12

(ALLY)NOW THAT WE HAVE THAT ALL SORTED OUT, WE NEED A GOOD COMET
(ANOTHER COMET)WHOA HEY GUYS I AM THE BEST COMET
(ALLY)ARE YOU SURE, WE NEED A COMET THAT WOULD GET A TEN OUT OF TEN RATING
(ANOTHER COMET)TOTALLY (smiling comet)
(everyone is smiling)

oh man, those actually sound pretty good. Especially number 10.

and the ending is pretty good for the series. Maybe just make them real quick or something and release them all then move on. That's kind of a lot of work but it's better than stopping completely.

After comic ten Samuel should shoot Ally with his hooves that shoot bullets like guns. Since she is a space monster, after all.

If you dropped the comet in the 8th comic, you could combine the 8th and 9th comic and avoid a lame joke in the process.

If I were Johnny, I would've put the last one as 12/48.

I think that would've been a good joke, on everyone that hates Ally.

I am trying to figure out the problem with Ally

I think the problem is she is bossy and self-centered, which I thought would be interesting for a girl character, but it just makes her seem annoying... But thinking about this again she kinda is supposed to be annoying... but not in the way people are reacting to her right now

Like the whole point of the Float Far Remote series was that the kid and the mouse are floating in the house with Ally, and that there wasn't really a hero character like Charlie. It's three people with no idea what they're doing, and since Ally is the adult she is supposed to take charge, but she is just crazy and doesn't do anything productive. But she's not supposed to be the bad guy or really annoying or anything

I don't know, maybe not everyone is supposed to like Ally, or something... Or maybe people just don't like her because most of the first Ally comics were not very good or were long and boring, which wasn't because Ally was in it... all the comics I was making at that time were like that....

I don't know Confused

The problem is that she isn't just a recurring character, she's the main character of pretty much every comic since she debuted. Super Mega doesn't tailor well to such an omnipresent character.

Also, the fact that she is constantly hungry is negative funny. She's just not a compelling character, especially when put next to cool characters like Samuel. I find the frames with Ally in them to be pointless and they detract from the funny panels.

Compare the Ally moments you find funniest with these classics:

The hair sandwich thing was great, it might not have been as good as those two comics and it might not be useable as an emoticon, but I liked the hair sandwich thing

edit: and she's not constantly hungry, that was just in the 4th and 5th comics in the series

Johnny, if you do those comics, they'll definetly make up for the couple of crappy Ally comics. Plus I want to see Samuel use his hooves like guns.

hey, it's okay if not everyone likes Ally. Lots of people don't like the Cardboard Tube Samurai but that doesnt stop Gabe and Tycho from using him in a comic every once in a while

They're going to become collectors items, just like the Everybody and Dave strip without the orange dots that I have.

I think the main problem, is that Johnny sits there and plans his comics, (Don't get me wrong, he was the original creator, and the way he does it is the actual, authentic super mega way) but I seem to think comics are a lot more funny when you just start with one idea, and draw what comes to mind, instead of writing dialouge and having all these ideas.

I think he just plans it mostly when he has a series like this

so, going back to the old, one emosewa comic at a time thing would make everything better again
